1. Who we are and scope
This website, carolinacedeno.ca, belongs to Carolina Cedeño – Financial Consulting (“we”, “us”), based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Carolina Cedeño is an independent associate of World Financial Group (WFG).
This policy explains how we handle the personal information of people who visit the site, use our calculators, book a consultation or contact us. It complies with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), the federal PIPEDA and, for people living in Quebec, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Law 25).
2. Person in charge of protecting your information
The person responsible for the protection of personal information is Carolina Cedeño. You can contact her about any privacy matter at gcedenosiso31TVSC@wfgmail.ca.
3. Information we collect
Information you give us
- When you book a consultation through our Brevo calendar: your name, email address and, if you share them, your phone number and your answers to the booking questions.
- When you write to us: your contact details and whatever you include in your message.
- If you become a client: the information needed to analyze your situation and recommend products (for example, income, goals and health information for insurance). That information is handled with your express consent and according to the obligations of the companies and regulators involved.
Information collected automatically
- Visit statistics (Google Analytics), only if you accept them: pages viewed, time on site, device and browser type, language, approximate location (city or country), how you reached the site (for example, from a social media direct message), which tools you use and which files you download. If you are signed into a Google account, we also see aggregate demographic data (province, age range and gender) through Google Signals. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
- Server logs from our hosting provider (Hostinger): IP address, date, page requested and browser, used for the site’s security and operation.
What we do not collect: your calculator data
The amounts, ages and income you enter in the calculators are processed only in your browser. They are not sent to our servers or stored. The PDFs you download are created on your own device.
4. How we use your information
- To confirm, prepare and hold the consultations you book, and to answer your messages.
- To provide the advisory services you request, if you become a client.
- To send you information or news only if you have given us your consent (see section 7).
- To understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve its content and calculators.
- To protect the site and meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We only use your information for these purposes, or for others we tell you about and you agree to. We never sell or rent your personal information.
6. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC, with Google’s consent mode: until you accept, Analytics does not store cookies on your device. When you accept, we also turn on Google Signals, which lets us see aggregate demographic statistics (such as province, age and gender) for people signed into a Google account. We do not use Analytics to show you advertising or for ad personalization: that information is never shared with Google Ads, and those options remain denied at all times.
Google may process this data in the United States or other countries. Google keeps the data according to the retention period set in Analytics, which is at most 14 months for visitor-level data. To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can also install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
7. Electronic messages
We only send you promotional emails or messages if you have given us your consent, as required by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every message includes our contact details and an easy way to unsubscribe, which we honour within 10 business days.
8. Who we share your information with
- Service providers that help us operate: Hostinger (website hosting), Google (statistics), Brevo (appointment booking) and our email provider. They only receive what is necessary and must protect it.
- Financial and insurance companies, and World Financial Group, only if you become a client, to process the products you choose and with your consent.
- Authorities, when required or permitted by law.
9. Information outside British Columbia and Canada
Some of our providers (such as Google and Brevo) may store or process information in the United States or other countries, where it may be subject to the laws of those places. Before communicating information outside Quebec, we assess that it will receive adequate protection, as required by Law 25.
10. How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described or as required by law and industry regulations. We then securely destroy or anonymize it.
11. How we protect it
The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), we limit access to information to those who need it and we choose providers with recognized security measures. No system is 100% secure: if an incident presents a risk of significant harm, we will notify you and report it to the authorities as required by law.
12. Your rights
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct it if it is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; we will explain the consequences.
- If you live in Quebec, you may also ask us to stop disseminating your information or to de-index any link to your name that harms you, and request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used technological format. We do not make decisions based exclusively on automated processing.
Write to gcedenosiso31TVSC@wfgmail.ca. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information.
13. Minors
The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 14 without the consent of their parent or guardian. The calculators may ask for a child’s date of birth (for example, for the RESP), but that data never leaves your browser.
14. Links to other sites
The site links to official sources and social networks. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; we encourage you to read their policies.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with its effective date and, if the changes are significant, we will let you know visibly on the site.
